Trek & Climb: Nevado Pisco – Flying in from your country you’ll arrive in Lima in the afternoon. Transfer to the bus station in Lima – Huaraz (Travel by bus, the journey lasts around 7-8 hrs)

Following then; Nevado Pisco is a very popular summit to peak in the Cordillera Blanca. It’s location among the highest mountains of the range such as Huascarán; ChopicalquiHuandoys and Chacraraju are an incredible sight to see; it is one of the most spectacular views in the Cordillera Blanca.

Following then; the start point for this climb is located in Quebrada Llanganuco or Llanganuco Valley. From Huaraz you’ll take a ‘colectivo’ (public bus) to the town of Yungay (1 hour) or private transportation can be arranged if you are part if you are part of a group.

In Yungay you’ll take another bus to Pisco base camp in Llanganuco valley. There are two lagoons located here: Laguna Chinancocha and Laguna Orconcoha. So then; you’ll arrive to to the Pisco Base Camp, located in the first bend at 77km, called “La Curva” or (Cebollapampa); which is about 5km beyond the second laguna Orconcoha.

Don’t be nervous if you are not a professional climber. This is an achievable climb for anyone who is well acclimatised and in good physical condition. It is a suitable climb for beginners (with some climbing experience) and a rewarding experience for professional climbers.

Itinerary

Starting out from Huaraz you’ll travel to Cebollapampa by private transport arriving in around 3 hours. During the trip you’ll come across two very beautiful lagoons Chinancocha and Orconcocha. You’ll follow the Llanganuco valley until reaching the Yurac coral.

From here you’ll start your trek to the moraine countryside, there you’ll camp for 4 to 5 hours approximately, before setting off the following morning.

Beginning the ascent at 3:00 am crossing some moraines until we reach the glacier, then you’ll pass through slopes of (35 – 40 °) of inclination until you summit the Nevado Pisco, where you’ll be able to appreciate magnificent views such as the gigantic peaks of Chacraraju, Artesonraju (paramount), Huandoys, Caraz, Huascaran, Alpamayo and others.

Then you’ll begin the descent to the Morrena camp where you can rest, have some lunch and continue to the base camp. Approx 6 to 7hrs ascent.

This morning you’ll be descending back to Cebollapampa where private transport will be waiting for the return to Huaraz.
